          Inclusive excellence

The purpose of the CAUS Diversity Committee is to provide leadership, direction, and assistance in strengthening and sustaining a diverse environment with a supportive, nurturing climate for the college community.
The committee meets monthly during the academic year. The model for Inclusive Excellence at Virginia Tech has four dimensions: Access and Success, Campus Climate and Intergroup Relations, Education and Scholarship, and Institutional Infrastructure.
The framework for this plan should be conceptualized as a matrix of integrated initiatives designed to achieve institutional excellence infused with diversity and inclusion.
Each dimension of the model represents an area in which initiatives are designed to achieve excellence.
The dimensions create a framework that helps the institution monitor the progress of diversity and inclusion efforts to ensure that they remain integrated, intentional, and central to the core mission of the university.A Message from the DeanDiversity is both a concept and an application. As a concept, it defines a world-view and as an application it directs our daily lives. As an academic entity, CAUS is identified with insightful planning, place-making, community, creative design, and visual and construction arts. Through these physical and visual arts, we put into play the concepts and applications that encourage, build, and embrace the multi-cultural diversity of our world.

Through the generous work of this committee and the support of the CAUS faculty, staff, and students, we will continue to strive to be a model of excellence, reflected in the multicultural nature of our academic endeavors.
